Why I have created the content
I have created this content to support Stage 2 learning within the HaSS NSW Curriculum, looking specifically at the Geography strand. This content, alongside the excursion to Mount Annan Botancial Gardens gives students the opportunity to engage in place-based learning.
By exploring and documenting their findings of different areas of the gardens, students will be able to identify features of the place, understand how people care for the environment, and develop a deeper connection to the natural spaces.(84 words)

Purpose of the Site
The Mount Annan Botanic Gardens showcases Australia’s unique plants and promotes understanding of the natural environment. While visiting, I believe students should explore both the 'Connections Garden', which offers opportunities for students to observe different sustainable measures and protection systems for plants, and also the 'Fruit Loop Garden', as it offers insight into the different ways plants can be used and interacted with. Both areas of the gardens provide students with opportunities to develop an understanding of places and environments and how people care for them, aligning with cross-curriculum priorities such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures.
